Valencia have been in contact with Ipswich Town defender Cameron Burgess as a potential replacement for Cristhian Mosquera.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who report that Valencia are keeping an eye on Burgess, who is set to leave Ipswich on a free transfer at the end of the month.
Indeed, they report that Valencia have already held a phone call with the Ipswich defender in the last few hours. The Spanish side’s CEO, Ron Gourlay, has reportedly asked the Australian to wait for Valencia this summer.
The Spanish side need to do some waiting themselves as they could lose several defensive options that will need replacing. Moves for those players have not yet happened, though.
But they are aware that players could be leaving and so are making moves to cover themselves in case. That includes calling the Ipswich defender to start initial discussions and ask him to wait for them.
The Spanish side are very attracted by the fact that Burgess would be available on a free transfer. That would allow them to spend money from sales, such as Mosquera, elsewhere on the squad.
