Sporting Club de Portugal have made it clear they would be willing to sell Marcus Edwards to Crystal Palace this summer.
That’s according to Record, who say the Eagles just need to move forward if they wish to secure the midfielder.
The newspaper explains that Sporting’s upper management do not want to give up core players in the squad, but Edwards is not considered one of them.
While they’d be happy to keep them, he is seen as a player who could bring in a good deal. The fact he is also not considered a key player for Rúben Amorim also makes them more willing to accept any proposals for him.
Crystal Palace, Al Nassr and Juventus have all expressed an interest in him this summer and Sporting have pointed to a €25-30m asking price.
They’re sticking to that figure as they only own 65% of the players’ rights, with the rest going back to his former club Tottenham.
Thus, those in charge at Alvalade want as high as deal as possible to ensure they’re not left counting any losses.
Whether Crystal Palace are willing to pay €25-30m for the midfielder remains to be seen but in Portugal they’re making it clear that the deal is there to be done if they want it.
