Nottingham Forest are set to miss out on AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana to AC Milan this summer
The Reds have shown keen interest in the midfielder and have made a bid of €30m to sign him.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who state the Ligue 1 side have recently turned down Nottingham Forest’s bid for the 25-year-old. .
The Premier League side’s failure has allowed Milan to take necessary steps to try and sign him.
Milan director Geoffrey Moncada is an admirer of the midfielder. The report says the Milan official has agreed a deal in principle with him for a contract of four or five years, worth €3.5m per year.
The Rossoneri have to find an agreement with Monaco, and have already made the first offer of €12m plus bonuses. There’s still distance between the two clubs, but Milan could take advantage of his contract situation to secure his services.
The France international has a year left on his deal, and Monaco have to cash in from his sale, to avoid losing him for free in 2025. The report indicates Fofana’s employer could be forced to sell him this summer for less than €30m offered by Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest’s interest in the player isn’t new as they tried signing him last summer. In October 2023, Fofana stated that he wasn’t attracted to leave Monaco for the Reds or Fulham.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have failed again to sign the Frenchman.
