In the past few months, we’ve seen Manchester United getting linked to two Benfica talents. Those are central defender Antonio Silva and midfielder João Neves.
The duo has undoubtedly been showing big potential with the Eagles lately, and their sale is a topic which can’t be ignored by the Lisbon club.
Newspaper Record today features a story about the two players, pointing out Manchester United’s interest in both of them, and claiming there’s a much bigger chance that Silva is the one who will leave in the next summer.
That is said to be a clear decision from Benfica, who only need one big sale to keep their accounts balanced for another year.
It’s said the two players could give them the necessary amount, and there’s a call that Neves is the one who should be held at the club for at least one more season.
For now, there’s no information on how much the Eagles will demand for Silva, as he’s protected by a €100m release clause and it’s very possible the club will try and bring in something close to that.
Now it’s up to Manchester United to understand that the midfielder should be off the table, making the defender a priority if they do really have a strong desire to sign him.
