Bordeaux will ask for €13-14m from Leeds United for striker Alberth Elis after Jesse Marsch’s side made their first move for him.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who cover the transfer situation at the French club and how the likes of Elis will be departing.
The newspaper explains that the club have worked out they need to put €20m into the club to ensure they don’t drop any further down than Ligue 2.
The club’s planners are already working on their plans for next season, and there is a desire for a ‘profound reshuffle’ of the current squad.
Several departures are expected, and Elis is among the three ‘most valuable’ players in the current squad who are ‘expected’ to be sold to boost the club’s coffers.
Elis is being ‘sought by Leeds’, something we’re already aware of after their interest was made clear in another report by L’Equipe yesterday.
That report did not make it clear what figure Leeds would have to pay, but today’s makes it clear that Bordeaux are asking for a figure between €13m and €14m.
That makes a lot of sense as Bordeaux currently have a purchase clause for Elis that’s worth €7.5m, and it was clear they would want to make a profit on that if they were to sell him on this summer.
Now we know it’s a figure around double that, so it remains to be seen if Leeds are willing to pay it.
