Fenerbahçe are ‘continuing their efforts’ to sign Christian Benteke when his deal at Crystal Palace comes to an end.
That’s according to Türkiye Gazetesi, who say the Belgian is ‘keen on’ the move to the Turkish side this summer.
Benteke is out of contract at Selhurst Park come the end of the season, and so far, there has been no indication he will be extending his stay with the Eagles.
That has naturally led to several reports about where he might end up next season, with clubs free to talk to him and arrange a move should they wish.
A move to Turkey is looking the most likely at this moment in time, with several sides, including Fenerbahçe, having already been linked with a move.
Türkiye Gazetesi pick up on that today and state that after Emre Belözoglu became the club’s interim manager, he has ‘stepped on the gas’ to address the shortcomings in the squad.
Benteke is ‘the target’ for him as he plans to get rid of forwards Mbwana Samatta and Mame Thiam this summer.
Talks are already underway and are ‘continuing their efforts’ to sign the 30-year-old when his contract with Crystal Palace comes to end.
He is also reportedly ‘keen on Fenerbahçe’, although there is no indication of whether he is ready to reach an agreement with them or is waiting.
The likelihood is that it’s the latter, with more offers sure to arrive if he can keep up his recent upturn in form between now and the end of the campaign.
