If there is one player that Philippe Clement will really not want Rangers to sell or get rid of in the January transfer window, it’s probably Cyriel Dessers.
The striker arrived at Ibrox from Cremonese in the summer for a fee of €5m, and has immediately left his mark on the Scottish team, scoring 12 goals and assisting another seven in 33 appearances in all competitions.
He might not start every game for Rangers, but he is an integral part of their current squad, which is why it’s strange to see Hellas Verona linked with a move for him on deadline day, courtesy of L’Arena.
The local newspaper explain that after losing out on Adam Idah to Celtic and the no’s of M’Baye Niang and Róbert Bozeník, the Serie A side are turning their attention to other names ‘within reach of the minimum budget’ at the disposal of the club.
That’s why they are ‘considering the profile’ of Dessers, as the Nigeria International already knows the league from his time at Cremonese, and would need very little adaptation to Italy, if any at all.
There is also the interest of Torino to be wary about, since they could also go after him if they fail to sign Rafa Mir.
One to keep an eye on, but it would be a shock if Rangers agreed to part ways with the 29-year-old at this point of the transfer window.
