In the past few days, we’ve been seeing several stories regarding Liverpool’s interest in Flamengo midfielder João Gomes.
Those articles come from both the Brazilian and the English media, and truth is that with them quoting each other, it’s hard to know where it all started.
Now as journalist Jorge Nicola shares a video about a potential deal for €32m, there is good and bad news for Liverpool fans.
The positive update is that, according to the reporter, if Flamengo receive a bid of that amount, they would ‘certainly make a deal’ and let the player move to Anfield.
However, Nicola also managed to speak to someone from the Rio de Janeiro club, and was told there’s ‘no offer like that’ yet.
The journalist adds that it’s ‘natural’ that João Gomes leaves Flamengo in 2023, since he’s been showing great potential at the club.
However, he considers it ‘extremely steep’ that he would go to Liverpool for €32m, because that may be too much for him.
Gomes recently signed a contract until 2027, and is now protected by a €60m release clause.
