Even though Botafogo starlet Jeffinho has never been linked to Wolverhampton Wanderers, we see those names involved in the same story today.

That happened because of an interview that fullback Fernando Marçal gave to the Brazilian media.

The former Wolves player was speaking to Resenha do TF about his current teammate, highlighting the big qualities the 22-year-old has. And when speaking of the winger’s future, he warned that Jeffinho should not get such a big challenge right away.

“The kid is an ace. I played 12 years in Europe, almost 13, I played with a lot of good players, I don’t remember picking up a winger with his quality,” Fernando Marçal told Resenha do TF (via O Dia).

“I think he has all the capacity to play in Europe, and he’s not a player for Wolverhampton, he’s a player for Lyon… And then we’ll see. Straight to Barcelona? Maybe he gets there and blows up.”

Fernando Marçal played for Lyon between 2018 and 2020, getting 75 appearances for the French side, then Wolves spent €2m to bring him tto the Molineux.

His years in England, however, weren’t as productive, as the full-back only made 32 appearances in his two years in the Premier League.

The player was released by Wolves this summer and joined Botafogo for free. He ended up having a decent adaptation to Brazilian football, having already made 18 appearances since the July move and quickly becoming an important piece for the Rio de Janeiro side.

At the age of 33, he now tries to help those rising talents like Jeffinho.
