Last month, several claims from Spain talked up Real Sociedad interest in Brighton & Hove Albion’s Igor Julio. The centre-back’s transfer was said to be imminent, but it still hasn’t gone through.

La Real president Jokin Aperribay has already confirmed their interest in the 27-year-old, but talking down La Real being in a rush to do so.

Spanish journalist Kike Marin took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report the latest on the La Liga side’s pursuit of the Brighton player.

He claims the Brazilian has already reached an agreement with the Spanish club, who are yet to finalise his signing. This is mainly because of the difference between the two clubs with regards to the transfer formula.

According to Marin, the Seagulls prefer to sell the former Fiorentina man this summer. New Real Sociedad sporting director, Erik Bretos, wants to sign the Brighton player on loan, ‘presumably’ with a purchase option.

There’s unlikely to be any progress unless one of Brighton or Real Sociedad change their stance.
