Manchester United have struggled this season despite bolstering their squad by adding Jadon Sancho, Raphaël Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer.

The Red Devils were knocked out of the EFL Cup by West Ham United, saw Leicester City end their unbeaten league away run and suffered defeats at home to Aston Villa, Liverpool and Manchester City.

After the 5-0 humiliating loss against Jürgen Klopp’s side last month, many reports started to surface suggesting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position at Old Trafford is in danger.

Victor Lindelöf has featured regularly, including in the defeats to Villa, Liverpool and City. The centre-back is currently with Sweden, preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Spain.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Lindelöf was quizzed about Manchester United players’ confidence is Solskjaer.

Responding to that, relayed by Aftonbladet, he said: “When you play for United, there will always be a lot of media coverage. It goes up and down in football.

“We have performed very well in football as well. If you get some bad results, clearly a lot is written. Internally, we’re just trying to work hard and try to reverse the bad results.

“We have not got the results and performed as we wish. It hasn’t been the best possible, but that’s the way it is in football. It’s about coming back and working harder.”

Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back when they host Watford after the international break.
