Back on Wednesday, we saw Brazilian outlets Torcedores claiming Crystal Palace and Flamengo were finalising a deal for the transfer of Matheus França. For that agreement, the English club would pay €30m plus potential €10m in bonuses.
When covering the story, we pointed out we should wait for the claims to get backed up by major outlets in South America, especially because that fee seemed too high.
It turns out that as Globo Esporte now shares a piece on Flamengo’s potential sale, they say there’s no agreement with Crystal Palace just yet.
In fact, their information about the Eagles’ latest attempt for França is quite different. They say the current bid continues to be of €15m plus €5m in bonuses, while the initial request was of €25m.
According to Globo Esporte, Flamengo are still to give Crystal Palace a response, and are ‘calmly evaluating’ the situation, with no rush for an answer.
As we said on Wednesday, the Rio de Janeiro side get huge media attention in Brazil. So by now, if the Eagles had indeed offered €40m for França, it would’ve probably been backed up by major sources.
