Real Madrid chief scout Juni Calafat will be in attendance for Tottenham vs Arsenal tomorrow as he eyes players from both sides.

That’s according to Defensa Central, who say Calafat is scheduled to be in attendance to watch the North London Derby to watch Cristian Romero and William Saliba.

The website reports that Real Madrid are continuing to work on signings despite the summer transfer window now being closed.

Adding to their central defensive options seems to be on the agenda, despite a squad that already boasts Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and Jesus Vallejo and that’s led to Calafat looking at Arsenal and Tottenham.

He has an interest in Romero and Saliba, who were both linked at different points this summer, and so is planning to fly to London to watch the North London Derby and both sides in action on Sunday.

Real Madrid reportedly believe that both players are centre backs with ‘enormous potential’ who could fit into the Madrid project comfortably.

The big issue is that both players have contracts until 2027 that don’t include release clauses, meaning Arsenal and Tottenham can demand huge fees, perhaps even €100m. Madrid wouldn’t pay that as they consider that a fee they’d only spend on midfielders or forwards.

For now, they’re just scouting the pair, and Calafat will reportedly be in attendance on Sunday to watch Tottenham and Arsenal’s latest clash.

Now given the source of this we’ll take it with a massive pinch of salt as it’s likely just an easy excuse to link Real Madrid to two potential big signings and get fans excited and nothing more.

Reports throughout the summer have linked both players, though, and the idea that Calafat may be watching them personally is certainly interesting.
