On January 6th, L’Equipe reported Gaëtan Laborde is still high on West Ham United’s list of transfer targets after the Hammers showed interest in the Montpellier player last summer.
A day later, Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin insisted he had not received any offers for the forward, but stressed he will leave ‘one day’.
Last week, the 26-year-old said he is willing to leave the Ligue 1 side for the right club.
On Monday, the French club’s president appeared as a guest on Téléfoot and confirmed there has been “no offer” for Laborde to change clubs in the winter market.
Nicollin then followed it up by revealing an approach made by David Moyes’ side for the Frenchman.
“There was a call from Gaëtan’s agent, who told me of an interest from West Ham, but I didn’t get an offer,” Nicollin said, as quoted by RMC Sport.
Laborde has six goals and six assists in 20 league appearances so for this season.
West Ham want to strengthen their strike-force as Moyes currently has Michail Antonio as the only recognised striker at his disposal following Sébastien Haller’s sale to Ajax this month.
The Premier League side have also been linked with Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri in the last 24 hours.
