As Chelsea wait for Andrey Santos to be ready for his debut at the club, the Brazilian media today shares good and bad news about that signing.
The positive updates are the main subject in a story from UOL which says the Blues are impressed with the midfielder’s performances at the U-20 South American championship.
After signing for Chelsea, Andrey quickly went back to Latin America to play in the tournament, and according to the outlet, Chelsea are ‘cheered up’ with what he’s been showing there.
That’s a reason for the Blues to hurry and get his working visa for him to feature in English football. However, that’s a pending issue for now.
The new system has been making it easier for new signings to get the permit, but since Andrey only has 38 matches played for a second division side, that ‘could be a problem’. If he doesn’t get enough points, then Chelsea would need to ask for an exception.
Aware of that issue, UOL says the Blues already started the process, as they’d like to have him playing in this final stretch of the season. In case that isn’t possible, then it’s likely he’d have to be loaned somewhere else.
