It appears that Rangers are finally about to get Michael Beale that midfielder he was asking for, with Nicolas Raskin on his way.

The deal was allegedly wrapped up last week, but there’s always a delay with these things, and that’s why he’s only going to be announced in the final days of the transfer window.

Either way, Rangers are close to unveiling him, and while he might not be ready for the game against Hearts on Wednesday, he could make his debut at the Ibrox against Ross County a few days later.

What a lot of fans might not have known, however, is that Raskin turned down a number of offers from teams in Germany to move to Scotland.

This comes via journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who explains that Wolfsburg, Schalke 04 and VfB Stuttgart were all interested in the midfielder, but he had ‘already rejected these offers’.

The reason is because he ‘preferred the project of Rangers’, who had ‘stood out by going to meet the midfielder’ in Belgium to show how much they wanted.

Sometimes, it’s the little things that matter, and in this case, Rangers travelling personally to have a chat with him is what made the difference.
