On Monday, we covered claims from Spain which stated Chelsea are keen to sign Atlético Madrid’s João Félix. It was also reported his agent, Jorge Mendes, has made a trip to London to hold talks with the Premier League side.
Chelsea have agreed a deal with the La Liga side for Conor Gallagher, but that hasn’t been completed yet because Atlético striker Samu Omorodion’s move to Stamford Bridge broke down.
Marca state Félix remains key to helping the Madrid club unblock a deal for the 24-year-old Englishman.
Gallagher has less than a year left on his deal and Enzo Maresca’s side have to sell him to avoid breaching the financial fair play rules. Chelsea and Los Rojiblancos’ idea is to get this deal over the line in the next three days.
Félix’s name has been on the table since Omorodion’s transfer failed, and Chelsea are open to bringing him back to the club.
At this moment in time, the English club haven’t yet made an offer the forward. They plan to offer €40m, while Diego Simeone’s side want €60m for the former Benfica star.
Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo claims financial reasons are forcing Chelsea to get rid of Gallagher in this window, while Atlético have to let one of their players move in the opposite direction.
Chelsea and Atlético believe the 24-year-old Portuguese attacker can be the solution to unblocking Gallagher’s transfer. Therefore, the two clubs ‘will do everything possible to close’ the deal for Félix, using a formula that’ll benefit all parties.
Mundo add Mendes ‘has entered the scene with João Félix to solve this matter’.
