Back in the summer, reports from the Catalan media revealed that Chelsea tried to sign Mikayil Faye before he joined Barcelona.
It was said the Blues battled the Camp Nou side to get him from NK Kustosija, but missed out by ‘a few hours’.
It turns out that as Faye has his first season with Barcelona’s youth ranks, Chelsea are still named by Sport as a contender to sign him in the future.
The outlet features a story claiming the youngster has been ‘exceeding expectations’ at the academy and that has been drawing interest from many European clubs.
Chelsea are said to still be ‘on the lookout’ for him, as well as Borussia Dortmund, who had also been interested in the summer.
Barcelona are ‘delighted’ with the player, but his future is completely uncertain, as it’s not known whether they’ll keep him, loan him out or sell him.
Faye is said to be happy where he is, but a potential promotion to the first team should be decisive for him. Apparently, Chelsea will be watching.
