Antonio Rudiger is available on a free transfer this summer, with his Chelsea contract expiring at the end of June.
At it stands, due to sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich, the Premier League club can’t offer him a renewal. Even before those sanctions arrived, it seemed clear the defender’s agents were sounding out other clubs and looking for a bumper deal.
There’s been claims from around Europe that Rudiger’s camp is asking for a colossal contract. The figures are so high that it’s seen multiple clubs walk away, despite there being no transfer fee payable to Chelsea.
Wednesday’s edition of Marca reports the player’s agents have contacted Real Madrid, ‘again’, because they can’t find anyone willing to meet their demands.
Rudiger is said to have been ‘captivated’ whilst playing for Chelsea at the Santiago Bernabéu recently, and is impressed by the club. Marca make it clear that any potential deal would be on the terms that Los Blancos feel appropriate, and they clearly have no intention of reaching the figures the player has reportedly asked for.
The 29-year-old wants an agreement sorted out before the end of April, or beginning of May at the latest, because he’s aware he’s leaving himself open to picking up an injury.
