Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta is increasingly thinking of a return to Spain and could even return to former club Osasuna.

That’s according to Marca, who say the ‘bidding is open’ for the Spanish defender as his contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer.

They explain that Azpilicueta is ‘tempted’ by the ‘siren songs’ of La Liga as he is set to be released by Chelsea in the summer.

At 32-years-old he remains a key player in the Chelsea squad but the best teams in the world ‘have him in their portfolios’ and would ready to move if he decides to leave London when his contract expires in the summer.

Azpilicueta is certainly open to that idea, believing he has ‘achieved everything’ with the Blues, and the ‘temptation’ of a return to Spain is growing for him.

He knows he is possibly facing the last big contract of his career, and with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid his ‘most popular suitors’, the idea of accepting a return to his homeland is ‘calling for him more strongly’ than ever before.

They’re not the only Spanish sides keen, though, with Sevilla and Villarreal also in the running and his ‘beloved’ Osasuna an option too.

The ‘bidding is open’ for his signature, and any side that gets him knows that the they will have ‘secured a leader’ who can be a ‘model’ in the dressing room but also offer reliable performances in several positions on the pitch.

It is because of this he is considered one of the ‘bargains of the market’ and why big clubs like Barcelona and Atletico are ‘looking for’ a deal.

Whether they can get one remains to be seen, but Azpilicueta ‘opened the option’ of a return to his homeland and a final swansong there.
