Last summer, Real Madrid signed Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga on a loan deal, after Thibaut Courtois suffered a serious injury.

Earlier in the season, the Spain international hinted that he would like to extend his stay with the La Liga side beyond his loan spell.

Wednesday’s AS takes a look at the Chelsea owned player and his chances of staying at Real Madrid.

Kepa has kept seven clean sheets and conceded 18 goals from 18 games. He hasn’t featured since Los Blancos’ 3-2 win over UD Almería in January.

During that tie, he conceded after 39 seconds and the newspaper indicates this was the reason for his exclusion in the last month.

Carlo Ancelotti has preferred Andriy Lunin ahead of the Chelsea man in recent weeks and his displays have helped him keep his place in the starting lineup.

This, coupled with Courtois’ return from injury, will make it difficult for Kepa to continue at Real Madrid.

It’s claimed the former Athletic man is in ‘limbo’ and is set for a ‘complicated exit’ from Chelsea in the summer, unless they were to lower their demands.

In short, Kepa is expected to return to Chelsea after this season, and the two parties will have to make a decision on his future.
