Filip Jørgensen arrived at Chelsea from Villarreal in the summer and has kept two clean sheets and conceded four goals from four matches this season.
Enzo Maresca has used the 22-year-old in the Conference League and the EFL Cup, and Robert Sánchez in the league. Jørgensen has continued to retain his place in the Denmark U21 squad since moving to Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea player started in two games for Denmark U21 this month and was replaced on both occasions. On Tuesday, he was taken off after half time against Iceland U21.
Bold say the goalkeeper was ‘hit’ and ‘hurt’, after a collision with opposition player Oliver Provstgaard. It’s claimed he had ‘problems with his head’ and was replaced by Andreas Jungdal in the second half.
The tie ended in 2-0 in Denmark U21’s favour, and their manager, Steffen Højer, spoke to Bold about the ‘unlucky’ Chelsea stopper.
The manager has ruled out any serious injury concern for the Blues summer signing. He claims Jørgensen’s substitution was a precautionary measure, to avoid any problems for him at Chelsea.
“It wasn’t planned. Instead, it’s a semi-bad habit we’ve got into with changing goalkeepers. He got hit down there and wasn’t quite at his best. We decided to take him out, so he didn’t have to go back to Chelsea with something or other,” Højer explained.
When asked how the stopper was after the game, he added: “I don’t know how he’s doing. But I don’t think it’s something that people should be worried about. We just didn’t want to take any chances.”
After the tie, Bold spotted Jørgensen inside the stadium and he seemed to be doing well. Jungdal was also asked about the Chelsea man.
“I thought Filip looked fine after the collision, but then I was told that he had a headache. So, I didn’t have time to think too much about it. I just had to get ready,” Jungdal said.
