Having missed out on signing César Azpilicueta, Barcelona are now working to complete a deal involving for his Chelsea teammate, Marcos Alonso.
Thomas Tuchel confirmed the 31-year-old wanted to be left out of the squad after the Blues’ 1-0 win over Everton last weekend.
The Chelsea manager’s comments suggested the left-back’s move to the Camp Nou could be done soon. That hasn’t happened and AS detail when the deal is likely to go through.
The manager has reassured Alonso his signing has been postponed by a few days as they want to first register new signings and get rid some of their players.
As of today, Barca want to resolve the fringes of the deal with Chelsea this weekend.
The operation will be sealed for close to €8m. Then the defender can travel to Spain between Monday or Tuesday, at the latest, to carry out medicals and sign the contract with Barca.
This will let Alonso seal his exit from Chelsea soon and be eligible to make his Barca debut against Real Sociedad on August 21st.
