On August 5th, Diario de Sevilla stated Jules Koundé has an ‘irrefutable agreement’ in place with Chelsea.
It was also stated Sevilla have so far not received a convincing offer from the Champions League winners.
The Blues have now shifted their focus to Romelu Lukaku and are ready to invest big in bringing the Belgian back to the club.
Sport on Friday say ‘everything seemed to be resolved soon’ with the defender’s possibility of moving to Stamford Bridge before the striker’s case emerged.
The English club made attempts to sign the former Bordeaux man, by including one of Kurt Zouma, Kenedy or Emerson Palmieri, but their efforts were ‘unsuccessful’.
Chelsea’s efforts over signing the Frenchman didn’t bear fruit and the report adds they now have ‘new concerns’.
For now, the Premier League side have ‘left Koundé’s operation in the background’, and are prioritising landing Lukaku.
Sevilla sporting director Monchi is waiting for the centre-back’s departure before making new additions to the squad.
With Chelsea putting the Koundé operation in the background, the France international may have to wait for a while before he gets a move to Stamford Bridge.
