It seems Chelsea are the latest Premier League side to become interested in River Plate youngster Franco Mastantuono.
That’s now revealed by Argentine outlet Bolavip, who share some interesting news about the 16-year-old’s future.
The website makes it clear there’s a big battle for his signing. Besides Chelsea, the likes of Real Madrid, Benfica and the City Group all have sent scouts to gather information about him.
The good news for the English clubs is that despite the reports from Spain about the strong chase from La Liga sides, Bolavip dismisses advanced talks with both sides.
It’s said that Real Madrid are not in deep conversations for Mastantuono, while Barcelona can’t even afford his transfer at this stage, given his €45m release clause.
Now what plays against Chelsea and other Premier League sides is that, since the youngster has an EU passport, he could get there before he turns 18. So that could be an advantage and a reason for Spanish and Italian clubs to move faster for him.
River Plate will surely be interested in having Mastantuono for a couple more years, though, so if English sides are patient, they can surely find a deal with the Argentine side.
