According to a claim in the Dutch media Chelsea are eyeing up PSV technical director Marcel Brands.

Michael Emenalo recently stepped down from his role as the Chelsea sporting director and then joined AS Monaco, and Brands is in the mix to replace him.

De Telegraaf have today reported Brands is in the running to become the new Chelsea sporting director, and that the Dutchman has been approached by the Premier League champions.

The Dutch newspaper say his appointment would make sense given the ‘bond’ between Chelsea and PSV in recent seasons. The two clubs have conducted transfer deals in the past, with the latest being Marco van Ginkel’s loan move to the Dutch club.

It’s said PSV must fear losing their technical director, but can take some relief he isn’t the only candidate Chelsea are considering. Roman Abramovich will want to get the selection right, and De Telegraaf explain there are also other options, although don’t name them.

PSV won’t want to lose an influential figure like Brands, but an offer from Chelsea would surely be tempting for the 55 year old.
