Jules Koundé’s meteoric rise at Sevilla means several top European clubs have a desire to sign the centre-back.
Chelsea are said to be among them and ABC’s online edition states the Blues ‘want’ him. The same report is also covered in the print edition of the newspaper and in that it’s explained the London club are one of the English sides that have ‘bid for him’.
However, there’s nothing to back up the Champions League winners making an offer for the defender.
An international intermediary, on behalf of several clubs, probed the 22-year-old’s asking price, and has stated Real Madrid are ‘willing to pay’ €50m for the France international, if Raphaël Varane leaves the Bernabéu this summer.
Koundé has ‘expressed his desire’ to make the big jump to a Champions League club and a move to Chelsea or Real Madrid can help him achieve it.
His preference is to join Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Sevilla ‘want to transfer him’ and do ‘good business’ with their star this summer, and to do that, they are asking suitors to pay his €80m release clause.
Los Blancos will never meet their La Liga counterpart’s demand, and with Julen Lopetegui interested in Isco, the price could drop if the Spaniard is part of the deal, However, Isco’s €6m plus annual salary can be an issue for Sevilla.
Real Madrid can consider signing Koundé if Varane is sold, but Chelsea, who are in the picture to take him, can acquire his services, if they can convince the player and Sevilla for the transfer.
