Christopher Vivell remains at the top of Ajax’s wish list, but his contract with Chelsea means he can’t take charge as yet.
That’s according to Voetbal International, who say Vivell is set to be paid by Chelsea until the summer at least.
The newspaper, via Voetbal Zone, report that Vivell remains on gardening leave from Chelsea after departing the club in the summer of 2023.
He’s been out of work since but has been targeted by Ajax, who are planning a major overhaul of the club after a disastrous 18 months.
A total restructure of the set up behind the scenes is being prepared and Vivell has been targeted as the man to control incoming and outgoing transfers.
They want to hire him and put him in place now but his contract with Chelsea is still valid and he will continue to be paid until the summer by the Blues. That is one of the reasons why he has not yet signed a deal to take charge at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
The chance of that being turned around at this moment in time is slim, meaning he will need to wait until the summer, when his deal with Chelsea comes to an end, before he can head to the Netherlands.
