While it might not be Kai Havertz day just yet for Chelsea fans, it’s certainly looking like we’re edging closer and closer to Thiago Silva day.

Earlier on Monday, we covered claims from Téléfoot Chaîne the Brazilian had decided to move to Stamford Bridge for next season following the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

The French channel claimed the player had chosen the Blues and while there were still a few details to sort out, there was an expectation the deal could be done this week.

A few hours later, Foot Mercato are in the position to explain just why Thiago Silva appears to have decided to move to London, and it might be something to do with the wages on offer.

The French website claim Chelsea offered Silva a ‘one year contract with another year as an option, a wage of €10m and a great signing on fee’.

Add on top of that a ‘big sporting challenge and the chance to discover a new league’, and you can see why the player would be swayed by the offer.

It’s still not official yet, but it seems the boxes are being ticked one by one on this one.
