Since Todd Boehly took over at Chelsea, there has been a lot of money spent, but the results haven’t followed.

That appears to be changing a bit of late, with three consecutive wins and six goals scored in those games, giving Graham Potter some breathing room at Stamford Bridge.

One area Chelsea needed to improve was at the striker position, which they failed to do, preferring to focus on wide players more than anything else.

It was widely reported at one point that the Blues were very keen on Marcus Thuram, whose contract at Borussia Mönchengladbach expires in the summer.

That was during the January transfer window, and there was even talk Chelsea could pay a small fee to acquire his services, but they never did.

He is now free to sign for a new club on a free in the summer, but he won’t be heading to either Stamford Bridge or Bayern Munich.

That’s according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who took to Twitter to reveal the news that Chelsea have dropped out of the race.

He explains the Premier League side are ‘not interested’ in the France international, and the idea of him moving to the London side ‘is not hot’.

Aware that of the reports from January, he does point out that it’s ‘important to mention that Chelsea were really interested in the winter, and had considered a potential move’ for Thuram, but they now have ‘other plans in that position’.
