Chelsea and Arsenal are among the clubs in the mix to sign RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons this summer.
Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover the latest on Chelsea and Arsenal.
At this moment in time, Arsenal are ‘only waiting in the wings’ for the 22-year-old. The Blues, on the other hand, are moving forward to try and sign him in this window.
Chelsea have already held talks with the attacking midfielder’s camp and Plettenberg says they will have a new meeting today, and the player’s brother, Faustino, will also be part of it.
He adds the Club World Cup winners’ goal is reach a verbal agreement with Xavi Simons, who is open to joining them. If Enzo Maresca’s side are successful, negotiations with the Bundesliga club to find an agreement on the transfer fee are expected to follow.
As well as the Premier League duo, Bayern Munich are also looking at the Netherlands international and that’s driven by their director of sport, Max Eberl. The Bundesliga winners haven’t made any advances so far, leaving Chelsea an easy route to make progress.
