Celtic are refusing to allow Luis Palma to link up with Honduras during the international break, resisting efforts by his country to have his injury assessed by their team.
That’s according to Diez, who say Celtic are ‘reluctant’ to let Palma link up with his country in the next international break when Honduras take on Costa Rica.
They explain that Palma ‘sets off alarm bells’ in the Honduran National team as Celtic are reluctant to let him go for the clash with Costa Rica, which is crucial to Honduras’ hopes of qualifying for the Copa America.
They believe that Palma isn’t anywhere close to being fit or ready to play and don’t want to give him permission to join up with Honduras because of that.
Luis Brevé, sports director of the Honduras National Team, together with Gerardo Ramos, has been in ‘permanent contact’ with Celtic over the matter and the pair are ‘doing everything’ to convince Celtic to let Palma travel and be assessed by their doctor Guillermo Toledo.
However, a source ‘close to the Celtic coaching staff’ has insisted the Scottish side have no intention of relenting.
“He will not fulfil international functions. His injury is not serious, but the club is reluctant to let him go. Palma will not play on Sunday with Celtic. He will not be with Honduras,” they are quoted as saying.
