Celtic, Rangers and Luton Town are all showing an interest in Standard Liege goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart ahead of the summer.
That’s according to La Capitale, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, and La Dernière Heure, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, who both cover the interest today after Rangers initial interest was made clear.
First La Capitale, who report that Bodart has ‘attracted the interest’ of Rangers ahead of the summer, when Philippe Clement’s side could lose current Ibrox number one Jack Butland.
The plan would be for him to replace Butland as number one, whereas potential rivals Celtic and Luton are only offering him a role as second choice goalkeeper at this moment in time. That is despite the former being set to lose Joe Hart, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
All three are interested either way and Standard are happy to sell, setting a ‘realistic’ transfer price of €4m plus bonuses on the 26-year-old.
They already have a replacement ready in Matthieu Epolo and will happily sell should anyone in charge at Ibrox, Celtic Park or even Kenilworth Road decide to make a firm bid.
La Dernière Heure meanwhile, confirm that Rangers and Clement are interested in the goalkeeper and that his €4m asking price wouldn’t be a stumbling block.
According to them their interest is new but Celtic and Luton have been in the mix since last year, when ‘there were contacts’ with the goalkeeper, but nothing came of it. They again state Bodart would replace Butland as number one at Ibrox.
They add that a deal should be easy to get done because of that asking price and the fact he only has a deal at Sclessin until 2025, so Standard are even more open to a sale.
They also confirm that the Belgian side need the money as they want a new defender, two midfielders and an attacker so it’ll come in handy on that front.
The question is whether Celtic, Luton or Rangers are ready to stump up and get a deal done, with all three seemingly just showing an interest and nothing more for the time being.
