Four days ago, we covered claims from Italy that Brighton & Hove Albion are set to fight with Atalanta for Celtic’s Matt O’Riley. It was also said the Seagulls have made an offer to Brendan Rodgers’ side.
A day later, TuttoMercatoWeb said the 23-year-old prefers the Serie A side over Brighton and other clubs.
Tuttosport explain the Italian club have made a new bid worth €23m. This didn’t convince Celtic, who are waiting to find out Brighton’s intention for the midfielder.
It’s claimed the Denmark international has given his approval to La Dea, but that isn’t enough for them to force Brendan Rodgers’ side to find an agreement.
TuttoMercatoWeb say Atalanta shouldn’t underestimate Brighton as they could offer more than the Italian club, if and when they cash in from Billy Gilmour’s sale.
The Celtic star wants to join the Europa League winners despite Brighton’s interest, as far as the Italian media have it. This gives Gian Piero Gasperini’s side an advantage over the Seagulls.
It’s claimed La Dea are in continuous contact with Celtic. TMW say there’s a distance of €2m between the two clubs, without mentioning the Scottish champions’ request or the fee offered by Atalanta.
There’s optimism of getting this deal over the line as the report says it’s possible to close the deal for O’Riley in the ‘next few days’. TMW add that once his transfer to Atalanta is made official, they will sanction Teun Koopmeiners’ sale to Juventus.
