Earlier this week, UOL reported Palmeiras could challenge SC Internacional to sign Celtic’s Alexandro Bernabei even though the latter are in talks with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Back in March, Internacional took the left-back from Celtic on a loan deal until the end of this year, with a purchase option.

Last week, Internacional president Alessandro Barcellos stated negotiations with Celtic are in full swing. Two days ago, their vice-president, José Olavo Bisol stated they are in talks with Brendan Rodgers’ side and that the 24-year-old wants to continue with them.

Globo Esporte now brings the latest on Internacional efforts to retain the player and about Palmeiras’ interest.

The former are ‘in full negotiations’ with the Scottish champions but haven’t yet found an agreement. They have a priority until next Tuesday, when the Argentine’s temporary deal expires.

Celtic have requested €5m and Internacional, who have reached their financial limit, are working to find ways to agree deal with the Glasgow club. The time is ‘getting shorter and shorter’ for them to secure an agreement.

The report states Bernabei’s agent has warned they will look at other clubs from January. Internacional can still continue negotiations but will no longer have the priority option.

Palmeiras are one of the interested clubs and could snatch the Celtic man away from their league rivals.

The current situation benefits the Scottish champions to get the best possible deal.
