Four days ago, Mundo Deportivo reported Atlético Madrid are still keen on signing Celtic’s Matt O’Riley after a failed attempt in January. It was also said the La Liga side are worried about the fee requested by Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The midfielder managed 19 goals and 18 assists last season and his performances for Celtic haven’t gone unnoticed. He’s a ‘very hot target’ for Atalanta.
That’s according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who says the Serie A side are ‘very interested’ in the Celtic star.
The Europa League winners are about to sell Aleksej Mirančuk to MLS this summer. They are keen to sign O’Riley and have tabled an initial offer of €15m, which has been rejected by Celtic.
Di Marzio claims Brendan Rodgers’ side are ‘asking for something more’ for the Denmark international. He makes no mention of the figure, but states Celtic’s demand is still far from the fee proposed by La Dea.
TuttoMercatoWeb are also reporting about Atalanta’s interest in the 23-year-old and they say his asking price is around €25m.
In other words, if the Italian club want to sign O’Riley, they will have to raise their offer by €10m to convince Celtic.
