On June 10th, Celtic’s Gustaf Lagerbielke made it clear to Fotbollskanalen that he wants to leave in the summer window. He wanted to leave in the winter market, but Brendan Rodgers felt he needed the cover and move was blocked.
It was also explained that multiple clubs in Italy are showing interest in the 24-year-old after US Lecce tried taking him away from Celtic in January.
The Serie A side haven’t forgotten about the Celtic player if Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport is to be believed.
Lecce finished the January window without signing a centre-back and they are still looking to strengthen that position.
The report says the Italian club have identified Lagerbielke and Portuguese side Estrela da Amadora defender Kialonda Gaspar as their two targets. They will have to make a final decision between these two players.
Lagerbielke made it clear that he wants to play regularly, which wasn’t the case at Celtic last season. Rodgers didn’t rely upon him regularly and the Swede clocked in less than 600 minutes from 10 games.
The Celtic defender has another opportunity to join Lecce, and he’ll to clinch a transfer in the coming weeks.
