Last week, Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart announced his decision to retire at the end of this season, and Brendan Rodgers’ side have to look for his replacement in the summer.
According to Günebakış, Celtic could consider bringing Trabzonspor’s Uğurcan Çakır to the club.
Hart has been the first-choice stopper at Celtic this season, ahead of Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain, whose deal expires in 2024.
It’s explained that Brendan Rodgers’ side have already started looking for options and are aiming for a goalkeeper who has room for development. The report states the 27-year-old has been included in Celtic’s target list.
The Turkey international has been a regular for the Süper Lig side this season, keeping nine clean sheets and conceding 33 goals from 29 games.
His contract lasts until 2027.
Günebakış state Celtic have already followed the goalkeeper and collected reports. They’re well aware that the Turkish club don’t want to give up their captain easily.
Therefore, Brendan Rodgers’ side are ‘investigating’ Trabzonspor’s demand to sanction the Çakır’s sale in the summer. If it’s above their limit set for a goalkeeper, Celtic will then look at other options in the market.
