Celtic are finally bringing one of their transfer sagas of the summer to an end, after agreeing a deal to sign Paulo Bernardo from Benfica.

The player had been on loan with Brendan Rodgers’ side last season and Celtic had a buying option in that deal. Correctly, instead of using that, Celtic went into into negotiations believing they could reach a better deal with the Lisbon club.

Benfica weren’t set against that if it meant they could receive a bigger percentage of a future sale, and it would appear that’s what the outcome is.

Mais Futeball report Celtic are set to pay around €3m, and Benfica will have a ‘significant’ percentage of a future sale. Bernardo himself is to be given a five year contract by the Scottish Premiership side.

Now the player has to go through all the transfer hoops to confirm the move and an announcement is expected in the coming days.

The 22-year-old can now finally concentrate on his future in Glasgow.
