That’s according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri. He makes it clear it’s his own update about West Ham’s interest in the centre-back.

He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover the developments to take the Leicester City man to West Ham.

West Ham United have found a verbal agreement with Leicester City ‘overnight’, to sign the defender.

He makes no mention of the details of the agreement, like the transfer formula or about a fee.

The Belgium international is expected to sign a three-year contract with the English club. This indicates he will join the Hammers on a permanent deal. In another post on X, he says the expectation is for Faes to have medical this afternoon.

Our take: Beneficial deal for all parties 

Wout Faes joined Leicester City in 2022 and spent the second half of last season on loan at AS Monaco.

He played 16 matches for the Ligue 1 side and had expressed his desire to join them permanently. However, Monaco decided against extending the 28-year-old’s stay, forcing him to return to the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City have dropped to the League One while the Belgian is in his final year of contract. He doesn’t seem to have any intention of playing in the third division.

This window is the Foxes’ last chance to cash in from his sale, to avoid losing him for free in 2027. West Ham United would have taken advantage of this to sign him, preferably for a reasonable price.

Faes has played 135 matches for Leicester City and 65 and 58 were in the Premier League and the Championship respectively. His experience can help Nuno Espírito Santo’s side this season.

Loan offer acceptable

Turkish club Amed SFK have contacted Real Zaragoza over the last ten days to sound out potentially signing Yussif Saidu.

While they have never submitted a formal written offer. Instead, their interest has only been expressed via a verbal proposal. They made it clear that they were willing to take the 21-year-old on loan.

The plan involved paying a €300,000 loan fee and included a purchase option of €3m. That would be either mandatory or easily triggered.

Zaragoza have not ruled out a loan deal. But they proposed a counter offer consisting of a €500,000 loan fee and a mandatory €4m purchase at the end of the season. That would effectively get them the €5m they started the summer asking for.

Stoke City, Burnley and Leicester City

Negotiations have not advanced, though. Attention has now turned to other potential bidders. Stoke City have also asked about the terms of a potential deal. Leicester City and Burnley, alongside an unnamed German club, also have the player on their radar.

For now, however, these are merely inquiries rather than concrete moves. It seems Real Zaragoza are now waiting to see if Stoke, Leicester or Burnley turn that into something more concrete.

The Spanish side have shown a willingness to negotiate a deal should anyone come forwards for the central midfielder. A loan deal with a mandatory option would be easy for the two Championship sides to match at least.

Leicester may struggle more given they’re now in League One, and struggling financially, but it is again not a major outlay for English sides. The question now is whether they are willing to move concretely in the final weeks of the window.

Leicester City’s Victor Kristiansen is undergoing a medical ahead of his move to Panathinaikos. Now the defender is just one step away from completing his exit from the Foxes.

Last month, Danish newspaper Tipsbladet revealed Panathinaikos were negotiating with Leicester over a season-long loan with an option to buy. After weeks of talks, the deal has now reached its final stage.

According to the same outlet, Kristiansen was in Italy on Saturday to complete his medical before officially joining the Greek giants.

The 23-year-old is expected to arrive at Panathinaikos on a loan deal for the 2026-27 campaign, with the Greek club securing an option to make the move permanent.

Long negotiations finally reach the finish line

The transfer has taken longer than initially expected. Tipsbladet explain they first revealed the negotiations in mid-June, but there was little visible progress for several weeks.

It was only on Friday that multiple Greek outlets reported Leicester City and Panathinaikos had finally reached an agreement.

Now, provided Saturday’s medical goes as planned, the transfer should be completed within hours.

The report adds Kristiansen is expected to be available to Panathinaikos manager Jacob Neestrup as early as Monday.

Reunion with the manager who launched his career

Victor Kristiansen will be reunited with the coach who oversaw the most successful spell of his career.

Under Neestrup at FC Copenhagen, the left-back developed into one of Denmark’s brightest young defenders. Afterwards, Leicester paid a package worth up to €20m (£17.1m) to sign him in January 2023. At the time, it represented a record sale for the Danish club.

Leicester’s relegation to League One has made an exit an attractive solution for all parties. As a result, Panathinaikos have taken advantage by agreeing a loan with an option to buy rather than committing to an immediate permanent transfer.

Barring any unexpected issues during the medical, Kristiansen’s Leicester City career will now be paused, with Panathinaikos set to complete the move in time for him to begin work under Neestrup at the start of next week.

“We’re waiting for Leicester,” he said.

“We’ve already received enquiries and offers. We need to work out the best path forward for him together with the club; we’re currently considering our options.”

Agent opens door

The agent is keen to emphasise that Okoli is not pushing to leave Leicester City this summer. But he would also prefer to be playing in a more prestigious level than England’s third tier. And a move to Serie A would fit into that bracket.

“Caleb is happy at Leicester, but I won’t hide the fact that he’d like to play in a more prestigious league,” he added.

“And Leicester understand his ambition; they know he deserves a different challenge and might let him go, regardless of whether it’s on loan or a permanent transfer.

Any deal, though, would have to satisfy Leicester. They paid €14m to Atalanta two summers ago. Transfermarkt currently rate the defender at €9m. The Foxes will want to ensure their losses, if they accept them at all, are at a minimum.

“Without naming any specific teams, I can say that we are looking for a move of this kind that will give Caleb the chance to return to the level he deserves,” he concluded.

“Of course, we need to ensure that any offers satisfy Leicester, who have, after all, invested in him.”

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Il Toro see the centre-back as one of their defensive targets for the summer.

Leicester City and the Italian club are already negotiating a deal, even if there is a disagreement over the terms.

The Foxes want a fee between €6 and €7m, which is currently deemed excessive by Torino. This doesn’t mean the move has stalled.

Interest from the Greek side first emerged over the weekend. However, the Danish outlet now states discussions between the two clubs are underway as Panathinaikos try to make progress on an agreement.

The move would see Kristiansen reunite with Jacob Neestrup. He is the manager who played a key role in his rise at FC Copenhagen before Leicester signed him in January 2023.

Neestrup reunion on the cards

Victor Kristiansen enjoyed some of the best football of his career under Neestrup in Denmark.

Their work together ultimately helped earn the defender a move to Leicester City. The Premier League club paid a package worth up to €20m (£17.1m) for his signature. The fee was considered a record sale for FC Copenhagen at the time.

Leicester City’s relegation campaign brought plenty of scrutiny on and off the pitch. Now, former manager Martí Cifuentes has offered a glimpse into how he viewed his time at the club.

The Spaniard, who left Leicester in January, has spoken to Mundo Deportivo about his coaching career and reflected on a spell that ended far earlier than he had hoped.

Cifuentes arrived at Leicester during a challenging period for the club and admitted the project did not develop as expected.

“It wasn’t the exit we wanted,” he said. “The expectations when we signed were different, although we knew it was a moment of transition for the club.”

The 43-year-old pointed to a strong start to the season before suggesting circumstances became increasingly complicated as the campaign progressed.

“We started the season very well, but then there were things that were difficult to manage. It’s a shame because it’s a very big club with very good supporters.”

Cifuentes questions lack of patience

The former Leicester manager also spoke about what he sees as a growing problem across football. Specifically, he highlighted a lack of patience when clubs embark on long-term projects.

According to Cifuentes, supporters and owners can sometimes underestimate how much time is needed to implement ideas and build a successful team.

“There are exceptions, but in general there is a lack of awareness of what a process involves,” he explained.

“Supporters and owners sometimes think coaches have a magic wand, but the reality is that some processes need time. In football, the only thing that gives you time is winning.”

The Spaniard pointed to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and former Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp as examples of coaches who faced difficult periods before eventually being rewarded with success.

Martí Cifuentes also used the interview to explain the footballing principles that have shaped his coaching career.

The Spaniard said he fell in love with football during Johan Cruyff’s famous Barcelona “Dream Team” era and admitted that influence remains visible in the way he wants his sides to play.

“I try to make my teams attack constantly,” he said. “I don’t believe in possession as an end in itself, but as a tool to dominate matches.”

Cifuentes added that he likes his teams to be “brave” and wants them to recover possession as quickly as possible, although he acknowledged coaches must adapt their ideas to different environments and squads.

He also insisted his attacking mentality has remained unchanged. This is despite spending much of the last decade working outside Spain.

After leaving Spanish football in 2016 for what was initially supposed to be a one-year experience in Sweden, Cifuentes ended up spending eight years in Scandinavia. Afterwards, he moved to England, where he worked with both Queens Park Rangers and Leicester.

The former Leicester boss believes modern football is becoming increasingly focused on aggressive man-to-man pressing. This leads to faster transitions and greater physical demands on players.

Open to another opportunity in England

Despite the disappointment of how things ended at Leicester, Cifuentes spoke positively about English football. Moreover, he suggested he would welcome another opportunity in the country.

Discussing his experiences at both QPR and Leicester, he described the Championship as one of the toughest leagues in the game.

“The Championship is a very competitive and very tough league,” he said. “There is a lot of direct football and it is extremely demanding.”

Looking ahead, Cifuentes made it clear he remains open to continuing his career in England, although he also admitted he would like to return to Spain at some point.

“If you’d asked me 10 years ago, I wouldn’t have imagined this journey,” he said.

“I’m open to continuing in England and also to other projects. The important thing is finding somewhere where I feel comfortable.”

The Spaniard added that managing in one of Europe’s top five leagues remains one of his major ambitions, although he stressed he is more focused on finding the right project than chasing a specific destination.

Leicester City’s collapse into League One is already forcing changes behind the scenes, and Patson Daka now looks increasingly likely to leave on a free transfer this summer.

Leicester City had a scout at FC Porto’s 2-0 win over Tondela on Sunday. However, this did not feel like a trip built around Porto’s headline names.

Record reported that Leicester were one of three English clubs with representation at the Dragao, alongside Stoke City and Wolverhampton. However, the Foxes are not shopping from a position of comfort right now.

Sitting 23rd in the Championship table after 43 matches and in real danger of dropping into League One, that changes the sort of market they can realistically attack.

Porto still offered obvious quality. Gabri Veiga changed the match from the bench, Victor Froholdt scored again, and Rodrigo Mora was one of the more lively players before the break.

However, those are the names top-flight clubs will also have written down. Froholdt has now scored in successive league matches, while Veiga’s profile has long been well beyond a second-tier English gamble.

That is the glamorous end of the notebook. The more useful Leicester section may well have started on the Tondela side.

Tondela look like the more realistic market

If Leicester Cty are planning for a summer shaped by financial caution and the possibility of third-tier football, Tondela’s squad makes much more sense.

The standout is Bernardo Fontes. The 23-year-old goalkeeper, born in Brazil and holding Italian citizenship, saved a penalty and avoided a bigger loss.

He has been Tondela’s most constant pillar this season, with over 20 league appearances, and already with a strong reputation by being named Liga Portugal 2 goalkeeper of the year in 2024-25.

Rodrigo Conceição is another one who fits a more realistic Leicester conversation. He is 26 and brings experience at right-back, including time with Portugal’s youth national teams. He is not a high-profile target, but he is a practical one for a club needing reliability.

Brayan Medina offers a different profile. The 24-year-old Colombian centre-back is left-footed, stands close to 1.95m, and has already shown strong defensive numbers this season.

Juanse Rodriguez is more of a developmental bet. The 20-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder is on loan from LDU Quito. He plays primarily as a defensive midfielder. He is still early in his career. Nevertheless, his exposure at this level puts him on the radar for clubs looking to build ahead of time.

There was also a name on the teamsheet that might have caught a few people off guard. Joe Hodge lined up in midfield for Tondela. As has been the case this season, he looked very much at home there.

Still only 23, he has taken on a regular starting role and become one of the key pieces in Tondela’s midfield structure. His path to this point has been fairly well travelled already. He developed in the academies of Manchester City and Wolverhampton. After that, he stepped into senior football with Wolves and spent time on loan at QPR and Huddersfield.

Tondela secured him from Wolves for a relatively modest fee, and that now looks like smart business. He brings consistency and experience across different levels of English football. In addition, he brings the added bonus of counting as a homegrown player in England. All of that makes him a very practical profile for clubs looking for dependable options rather than high-risk bets.

Porto names attract attention, but Tondela fits the reality

That is likely the key takeaway from Leicester City’s visit.

Yes, Porto had the more attainable talents on display. Left-back Alberto Costa and young striker Deniz Gül may even fall into a “cheaper” bracket compared to Veiga, Mora and Froholdt. Still, if Leicester are genuinely preparing for a difficult summer, Tondela look far more aligned with their situation.

Bernardo Fontes stands out in that regard. He combines performance, consistency and timing. For a club needing value and upside, he looks like the kind of opportunity that does not stay available for long.

In the end this may end up being about identifying gems before others do. In that sense, Tondela’s squad may prove to be the more important takeaway from this trip.

Nabil Bahoui’s career took him across Sweden, Germany, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia. But it could have included one of the most extraordinary Premier League stories as well.

Speaking on Fotbollsmorgon, the former AIK winger revealed that he turned down a move to Leicester City in 2015, the year the Foxes shocked the world by winning the Premier League.

Leicester City regret

Nabil Bahou had just scored 14 goals for AIK in the 2014 Allsvenskan and was attracting interest from abroad. Leicester had just survived in the Premier League after spending much of the season in relegation trouble.

However, a run of seven wins in their last nine games saw them secure a 14^th placed finish and another year in the top flight.

Bahoui was aware of how their season had gone, and he didn’t see how it would fit.

“I checked the app,” he said.

“They were newcomers then and I thought we would just chase. They had no possession and barely managed. I pushed hard that it needed to be a team that had a lot of ball that I would go to. So, it was a no.”

A year later, Leicester were Premier League champions. Claudio Ranieri arrived that same summer and the miracle begun.

He led his team to the most unlikely title success, after being rated at 5000/1 odds before the season started. Now, Bahoui openly admits the decision still stings.

“There are many who say, ‘I don’t regret much’. But I actually regret that I turned down Leicester’s golden years.”

Premier League miss to new coaching path

Instead of Leicester. Nabil Bahoui moved to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, before bounding around several leagues before returning to Sweden.

Now 33-years-old, he’s announced his retirement as he plans to transition to coaching at Brommapojkarna. It marks the start of a new chapter of an interesting story that was almost even more special.

Instead, he can only look back with regret, although he isn’t the only one feeling that way about Leicester’s unlikely title win.
