Following Sky Sports’ Tuesday claims that Emiliano Sala had told Nantes he wanted to join Cardiff after travelling to England to visit the Premier League side, the Ligue 1 side decided to pull the rug from under everyone’s feet and put a stop to the negotiations.
This is what Ouest-France are reporting first thing on Wednesday, claiming Neil Warnock’s side tried to lowball their French counterparts.
Without really explaining why, Cardiff are said to have changed their offer from €22m to €15m, which Nantes did not take to kindly.
Ouest-France state that amount is ‘far’ from the French club’s expectations, who know 50% of what they receive will go straight to Bordeaux due to a clause in his €1m transfer deal back in 2015.
By far the most important player in Vahid Halilhodzic’s first-team, scoring half of their goals and two assists, the Argentine will now have to wait for new developments if he wants to continue his career elsewhere.
Ouest-France believe things can still ‘evolve’, but whether that will be with Cardiff or another club remains to be seen.
