Burnley may have a big problem in their pursuit for Montpellier defender Maxime Esteve.
According to the latest reports from France, Lens are also said to compete for the centre-back’s signing this month.
The information is brought by Mouhamed Toubache-Ter, who claims that Lens are ‘seriously considering’ that transfer right now.
Burnley’s interest in Esteve was reported by the French media this week, with L’Equipe claiming that the Clarets are expected to ‘quickly send an offer’ for his signing.
It turns out that neither of the reports claim how much the clubs are putting on the table for the transfer, so we’re now a bit in the dark about how much the defender will cost.
With both Lens and Burnley trying to get Esteve before the end of the transfer market, that’s probably a very comfortable situation for Montpellier, who can make a big request and expect a panic buy from either of the sides.
The defender is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €7m, and has his contract with the Ligue 1 side expiring at the end of next season, making now or this summer the perfect time to sell.
