Burnley are ‘in advanced talks’ with Westerlo to sign striker Lyle Foster in a deal worth around €7m this month.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says that the two clubs are working on the potential transfer and Westerlo are ‘really positive’ about the prospect of a big sale.
Burnley have been heavily focused on the Belgian market since Vincent Kompany’s arrival as manager in the summer.
They signed no fewer than five players from the Jupiler Pro League in the summer window and have continued to look at it this month, with Ameen Al-Dakhil arriving from Sint-Truiden.
It seems their focus is now on Westerlo and they are working on a deal for striker Lyle Foster, who has managed eight goals and three assists in 20 league games this season.
According to Tavolieri, the Clarets are in ‘advanced talks’ with Westerlo over a deal that could be worth ‘around €7m’ in total.
The Belgian side are ‘really positive’ that an agreement can be struck and that they will be able to secure a ‘big sale’ to help bolster their finances.
Indeed, a deal around that price would see them secure their biggest ever sale, with the current record set at €1.8m by Nabil Dirar’s move to Club Brugge in the 2008/09 season.
It is easy, then, to see why they are keen on the negotiations with Burnley, who look set to break that record considerably if they complete a deal for Foster this month.
