We recently covered Daniele Longo’s report on how Napoli want to close their move for Brighton’s Billy Gilmour quickly and that a new offer was set to be made soon.
Longo mentioned that Napoli’s move depended on the sale of Gianluca Gaetano and midfielder Jens Cajuste.
Gazzetta dello Sport state the Italian is on the verge of an exit, with Cagliari nearing a move for him. The Partenopei are expected to earn just over €8m for Gaetano and the expectation is that Napoli will use that money in the Gilmour deal.
The move for the Brighton midfielder can close ‘this weekend’ and a similar sentiment is echoed by Corriere dello Sport.
They state that this week is ‘decisive’ in transfer dominoes, which will start with Gaetano’s exit. Brighton are hoping that the Gilmour situation is resolved ‘as soon as possible’ and a move to Napoli is now ‘closer’ for the Scotsman.
Despite the optimism, the figures which have been mentioned for Gilmour in the Italian media have seemed on the low side and this is more key to any deal than Napoli securing that sale.
