Towards the end of last year, Brighton initiated contact with Sevilla for Juanlu Sánchez.

The Premier League side wanted to sign the 21-year-old in January, but weren’t able to get the deal over the line.

Fast forward to October and today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo claims Brighton made an offer to sign him. There’s no mention of the details of their proposal and why the deal didn’t go through.

Recent claims from England have talked about Liverpool, Arsenal and West Ham interest in the young fullback. Mundo relay that and then provide their own take on this case. This is when they mention the Seagulls’ offer.

Sánchez won gold with Spain at the Olympics this summer. His performances in Paris and for the club have continued to attract interest from other clubs.

Despite the past disappointment, Brighton are still in the picture to sign the Spain U21 international. It’s claimed Fabian Hürzeler’s side will continue to follow him.

The newspaper claims the player is currently ‘calm’ about these links and is focused on his own development at the La Liga side.

Sánchez’s preferred position is on the right side of the defence. Sevilla manager García Pimienta has deployed him in the midfield this season, making six appearances in the process.
