Last month, Andi Zeqiri’s agent said his client is very likely to leave Brighton & Hove Albion, after he spent the last two seasons on loan at FC Augsburg and FC Basel.
The summer transfer window has closed but the one in Belgium is open until September 6th, and KRC Genk want to take advantage of this to sign the striker.
That’s according to Het Belang van Limburg, who say the Brighton player is ‘on the way’ to the Jupiler Pro League side.
Genk were keen on bringing Paul Onuachu back to the club but the unrealistic demands set by Southampton have seen them shift their focus to Zeqiri.
HBVL don’t mention if Genk are looking to sign the Switzerland international on loan or permanent deal. His contract lasts until 2024 and he’s out of Roberto De Zerbi’s plans at The Amex.
Over at Het Laatste Nieuws, they also state the Belgian club ‘want to attract’ the 24-year-old after giving up in their pursuit of Onuachu.
It’s claimed Zeqiri can leave the Seagulls and Genk are working to sign him on a permanent transfer.
There’s no mention of the fee Brighton will collect from this operation.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims the player is already in Belgium to ‘complete a move’ to Genk.
