Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Robert Sánchez has ended up on Bayern Munich’s radar, according to a surprise claim from Germany.
Manuel Neuer was involved in a skiing accident last December, forcing him to miss the second half of last season. He won’t be available for the start of the new season, leaving the Bundesliga winners to find a cover for him.
That’s according to Bild, who say the Bavarian club have included the Brighton player in their target list.
The German champions are not interested in Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann and have no desire to pay €30m to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
They have already scouted other players and it includes Sevilla star Bono and the Seagulls stopper.
Sánchez was the first-choice stopper at Brighton before losing his place to Jason Steele in March. He could drop further down the pecking order after Bart Verbruggen’s arrival at the club earlier this month.
A move to Bayern would see the 25-year-old provide cover for Neuer until he regains full fitness.
If Thomas Tuchel’s side decide against signing a new goalkeeper, Bild say Sven Ulreich could start the season at Bayern.
