Brentford, Brighton, Leicester, Manchester City, Newcastle, Southampton and Wolves are among the clubs lining up for Hertha BSC star Ibrahim Maza.
That’s according to SportBILD, who report that there will be a battle for the 19-year-old’s signature in the summer and the Premier League is likely to be involved.
They explain that Hertha rejected offers for Maza in the final stages of the January transfer window, with Porto and AC Milan both trying their luck.
The Berliners wanted well over €20m for their man and that saw the two bidders back away, with them instead waiting for the summer.
That’s because that figure ‘will be halved’ in the summer transfer window thanks to a clause in Maza’s current contract. That’s made an exit likely, and a host of clubs are lining up.
Atlético Madrid, VfB Stuttgart, Olympique Marseille and half of England are already eyeing up the 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who has five goals and four assists in 21 games in the 2. Bundesliga this season.
Half of England actually means Brentford, Brighton, Leicester, Manchester City, Newcastle, Southampton and Wolves. They are all said to be ‘vying’ for the player, who seems to be considered something of a bargain.
We already covered Newcastle and Brentford’s interest in a report on Tuesday, while Brentford, Wolves, Southampton and Newcastle have all been credited with an interest in recent months too.
Brighton were after him last summer too so it is no surprise to see them included and the same can be said of Leicester. Manchester City are new, but with them focusing on youth, perhaps it makes sense.
Either way, the list is long and the suitors plentiful for the 19-year-old, whose clause in his contract seems to have the wolves circling.
