Brighton and Hove Albion have shown an interest in River Plate youngster Ian Subiabre, but getting him out of Argentina is unlikely to be an easy task.
That’s according to journalist Jonathan Riniti, relayed by Soy del Millo, who reports that Brighton have shown an interest in the 18-year-old.
He reports that Brighton are ‘following in the footsteps’ of youngster, who is considered one of the ‘great figures’ of River Plate’s youth teams.
The forward, who can play all across the front three, has seven goals and eight assists in 30 games for CA River Plate II to date.
That’s apparently caught the attention of Brighton, who following him closely. There is no indication they have done anything other than that up to this point.
Getting him out of River Plate will be no easy task either. That’s because the youngster has already signed a professional contract with the Argentine side and that includes a $25m release clause.
It is, therefore, difficult to see anyone paying that or him leaving in the near future because of that.
Of course, Brighton showing an interest in a South American youngster is nothing new. They’ve become experts at scooping up talent from the continent in the last few years.
Subiabre appears to be the latest added to their list and he’ll be a name to keep an eye on in future in case the Seagulls become more interested in future.
