Brighton & Hove Albion and Celtic were among the clubs to send scouts to watch Brøndby IF’s clash against FC Nordsjaelland on Sunday, according to Tipsbladet.
Brendan Rodgers’ side were credited with an interest in Brøndby’s Mathias Kvistgaarden in the summer of 2023. Celtic were said to have looked at the striker again in January.
The transfer didn’t take shape, but the striker was flattered at being linked with Celtic. They have joined Brighton and other clubs in sending their officials to watch the weekend clash between the two Danish clubs. The tie ended in a 1-1 draw.
Kvistgaarden opened the scoring in the 32nd minute before Benjamin Nygren scored the equaliser for Nordsjaelland before the break. The Brøndby star has impressed this season, scoring 13 goals and registering five assists from 19 games.
As well as Brighton and Celtic, Bologna, Hellas Verona, Fenerbahçe and Feyenoord had their scouts in attendance at the Brøndby Stadium.
The report didn’t specify the player[s] the Seagulls and the Scottish club came to watch. They do state Celtic were ‘very interested’ in Kvistgaarden and their officials have followed Brøndby’s fixtures on numerous occasions.
It remains to be seen whether Brendan Rodgers’ side will rekindle their interest in the 22-year-old.
